ASHRAE BC is proud to welcome ASHRAE Society President, Sheila Hayter, to our February Meeting. Sheila will be outlining her presidential message “Building Our New Future Energy”. We are at the front end of a major evolutionary change in how energy systems interact. Instead of individual systems- buildings, utilities, the transportation sector, and the industry sector- it`s becoming one system, and buildings are going to play a central role in that new paradigm. Buildings will be where energy is generated, stored, and commandeered, and we will be optimizing energy flow in a different way. Electricity powers modern life. We may not have all the answers right now but ASHRAE will lead in finding new strategies for all sectors to interact.

Sheila Hayter is an ASHRAE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer. She is a Group Manager at the Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. She also is the recipient of Distinguished and Exceptional Service Awards. Sheila holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado. Her ASHRAE roots run deep. Her father, Richard Hayter, served as ASHRAE president from 1995-1996.
