ASHRAE BC is proud to welcome Alex Repski to our May Meeting. Artificial ground freezing is a technology that has played a pivotal role in the Canadian mining industry. The presentation will include some historical and current application of artificial ground freezing (AGF) in Canada and discuss the importance of AGF to the Canadian mining and construction industries. Included will be an overview of the key components used in artificial ground freezing systems, including freeze pipes, refrigeration plants and coolant distribution systems. The presentation will also include a discussion on the design of AGF projects.

Alex Repski is a Mechanical Engineer working for Strong Refrigeration Consultants, a consulting firm specializing in the design of industrial refrigeration systems for facilities such as hockey arenas, food processing facilities, and warehouses. Alex has a Master’s of Science degree focussing on refrigeration systems from the University of Saskatchewan. Alex has spent a large part of his career with Strong Refrigeration working on the design, construction and commissioning of artificial ground freezing plants for construction and mining operations.
